Executive Director - Rachel Samoff

The Children's Pre-School Center (CPSC) was founded in 1984 by its current Executive Director, Rachel Samoff, as a corporate-supported day care facility focused on the unique needs of parents and educators in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since then, Rachel has developed, nurtured, and guided CPSC to its current position as one of the finest child care centers in the country. She has provided inspired and consistent leadership to CPSC, using her experience and expertise to maintain the high standard of excellence that faculty, parents, and children enjoy.

Rachel's background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin and a Master's Degree from the University of Michigan with a concentration in Early Childhood Education and Multicultural Education. Since 1964, Rachel's work with young children has included teaching children, coordinating parents, educating teachers, designing curricula, and directing child care facilities in the United States and several countries in Africa.

She is an unusually well-trained, experienced, and passionate leader in the local early childhood community. Rachel has served for over 20 years on the Palo Alto Child Care Task Force, the Palo Alto Child Care Advisory Council, and the Task Force for Family Support. She has proven her dedication to the well-being of our community's youngest children. Additionally, her pioneering work in the area of corporate-supported child care has brought additional resources into local child care.
